Pierre Ouimet Gilbert 
Pierre Ouimet was born on June 18th, 1683 in Ste. Famille, Ile-d'Orleans, Nouvelle, France. Pierre Ouimet's father was Jean Houymet and his mother was Renee Gagnon. His paternal grandparents were Nicolas Houymet and Perette Nicaysse; his maternal grandparents were Jean Gagnon and Marguerite Cochon dit Cauchon. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Jean, Louis, Jacques (Guillaume), Pierre, Gabriel, Marie Madeleine, Jeanne, Marie and Marguerite. He died in Montreal, Canada.General Notes
Pierre was the last child of Jean and Renee. He was born is Ste. Famille. He worked and lived on the family farm in his youth, but apparently left the farm when he married Marguerite.
Their first child was born and baptized at Ste. Anne de Beaupre, but they soon relocated to Montreal where their next eleven children were born in various parishes in the Montreal area; Notre Dame, St. Laurent, Riviere des Prairies, and Sault au Recollet. Pierre continued the farming tradition, and his farms land included a sub-lease from the seminary of Quebec. In addition, he was appointed as Guardian of Fort Lorette which was erected to protect the friendly Hurons from attacks by the Iroquois. Pierre and marguerite, with their 12 children, are responsible for the vast majority of Ouimet descendants in the world today. Pierre died at the age of 74 and is buried in the cemetery of Notre Dame in Montreal.
