Berenger was born about 1012 in Of, Longueville, Normandy, France.1   Berenger's father was Osbren De Bolbec and his mother was Avelina DeCrepon.  His maternal grandfather was Herbastus DeCrepon. He had two brothers named Walter and Osborne Osbert (Gyffarde).  He was the second oldest of the three children.1
