Joannes Jacobus was born on July 13th, 1749 in Bauerbach, Karls., Baden.1   Joannes Jacobus' father was Johann Michael Gerweck and his mother was Margaretha Wolff.  His paternal grandfather was Joes Adam Gerweck; his maternal grandparents were Johann Georg Wolff and Theresia N.. He had a brother and a sister, named Franz Anton and Maria Anna Margaretha.  He was the oldest of the three children.1
