John Charles was born on January 31st, 1869 in Blenheim Twp, Oxford, Ontario, Canada.1 John Charles' father was John Wesley Fritch and his mother was Phoebe Ann Rathbun. His paternal grandparents were George M. Fritch and Clark; his maternal grandparents were Charles Rathbun and Permelia Ryder. He had a brother and four sisters, named Russell B., Jane Pamela, Clara Maude, Annie Mabel and Parmino Wesley. He was the oldest of the six children.
