Francis "Pete" E. Fierce 
Francis "Pete" E. was born on April 4th, 1859 in Knoxville, Knox Co., Illinois.1 Francis "Pete" E.'s father was Wilson Fierce and his mother was Charlotte Gibbs. His paternal grandparents were Conrad Fierce and Elizabeth Wilson; his maternal grandparents were Simeon Gibbs and Samantha Westcott. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Wellington "Duke", Ira, Dicky June, Margaret, Sarah Elgifa, Jessie, Eva and Nellie. He had a half-brother named Wilson Day. He died at the age of 68 on May 19th, 1927 in River Falls, Pierce Co., Wisconsin.1 General Notes

The Fierce forbears came to the Northeast prior to 1790. The mother of Grandfather Fierce (Francis "Pete" Fierce) was a Gibbs and they came to America prior to 1633. The Gibbs name was spelled several ways: Gibbs,
Gibbe, Guibe, etc. Giles Gibbs, ancester of the family line came from Devon County, England. He was a free man and owned a land grant, in Dirchester, Massachusetts in 1633. There are two Coats of Arms, one for Fierce and one for Gibbs. The GIBBS Motto is "Hold fast to your purpose".
