Jennie was born on August 29th, 1881 in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Mi.1 Jennie's father was Cornelius Fernambucq and her mother was Maria Helena DeJager. Her paternal grandparents were John Fernambucq and Johanna VanWessell; her maternal grandparents were Jacobus DeJager and Cornelia Katherine Overbeke. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Cornealius, James, Martin C., Mike, Leonard, Josephine, Tannetje, Wilhelmina and Kate. She was the fifth youngest of the ten children.
