Jacob Doty 
Jacob was born in 1683 in Oyster Bay, Li, New York.1 Jacob's father was Isaac Doty and his mother was Elizabeth England. His paternal grandparents were Edward Doty and Faith Clarke; his maternal grandparents were William England and Elizabeth. He had five brothers named Isaac, Joseph, Solomon, James and Samuel. On May 1, 1737, acknowledged January 4, 1743/4, Jacob Doty and wife Penelope of Oyster Bay sold, to Theodorus Collier, land near Hempstead harbor, bounded by the lands of his brothers Samuel and Solomon. Other deeds as late as October 19, 1753 are signed by Jacob and wife.
Doty attributed four children to Jacob and Penelope Doty: Peter, William, Joseph, and John D., but says that positive evidence is lacking.
It is known that a Peter Doty was a witness to the aforementioned sale of land to Jacob Mott, as well as to the proving of the will of Samuel Doty on April 8, 1747. William, Joseph and John Doty all married. William's wife was Elizabeth Mott, suggesting another tie to that family.
Doty also reports that John D. Doty was a witness to the will of William Mott in 1740.
