Augusta Otis was born on July 31st, 1851 in Taunton, MA.1 Augusta Otis' father was Frederick Freeman Dewey and his mother was Hannah Pratt. His paternal grandparents were Israel Dewey and Nancy Hovey; his maternal grandparents were Jonathan Pratt and Melinda Shaw. He had a brother and four sisters, named Frederick Freeman, Frances Hannah, Mary Mitchell, Anna Louise and Emma Louise. He was the third youngest of the six children.1 -
