Lee A. Criswell Rites Held March 3
Lee Alonzo Criswell was born February 21, 1885 in Benton County, Iowa. He died at the Bates County Memorial Hospital, Butler, Mo. March 1, 1971.
He moved with his family to a farm in Missouri at eighteen years of age and had lived in the Adrian-Sheldon vicinity all of his adult life.
On April 6, 1906 he was married to Maude Scoggin. Five children were born to this union: Anthony Wayne, Louis S., Mary E. Archer, Ann L. Vogt and Calvin D. His wife preceded him in death March 3, 1931, his oldest son, August 30, 1960, a granddaughter, Sue Ann Criswell, May 11, 1947 and a grandson, George Booten Archer, April 17, 1953. March 2, 1936 he was married to Ida Ann Norvell. Mrs. Criswell and three stepchildren survive him. They are Hollis Leroy and Charles Edgar Norvell, Kansas City and Mrs. Lucille Boyd, Collins, Mo. Mr. Criswell is survived also by four grandchildren, Alan Louis, James Lee, Mary Ann and Barbara Lynn Criswell; two brothers, Homer, Adrian, Robert B., Kansas City and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Ragan, Adrian.
He was baptized in the Mormon Creek when he was a young man.
He was a past master of the Sheldon, Mo. Masonic Lodge No. 371.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 3, 1971 at 2:00 p.m. at the Atkinson-Dickey Chapel, Adrian, conducted by Rev. Charles Conger. Interment was in the Crescent Hill cemetery.
