"Roger Clapp 1609 was grandson of Robert, owner of Combe Wood in Salcombe
Regis. Roger Clapp sailed in the MARY & JOHN in 1630 to New England. The
sailed 18 days before ARABELLA JEWEL AMBROSE & TALBOT, as it was the first to
arrive, they chose the place of settlement to which they gave the name of
Dorchester. "Dept.20 Mar 1630, arr.30 May 1630 Nantucket
