  Cornish, written by Vaughan Cornish 1947,publ by Sifton Praed,London:
  "Roger Clapp 1609 was grandson of Robert, owner of Combe Wood in Salcombe
  Regis. Roger Clapp sailed in the MARY & JOHN in 1630 to New England.  The
  sailed 18 days before ARABELLA JEWEL AMBROSE & TALBOT, as it was the first to
  arrive, they chose the place of settlement to which they gave the name of
  Dorchester. "Dept.20 Mar 1630, arr.30 May 1630 Nantucket
  
  !Bishop's Transcript, County Record Office, Exeter,ENG:6 Apr 1609 Roger, son of
  William Clapp was baptised.  5 Aug 1629 Johan Clap, wife of William Clap was
  buried.
