MARIE L. MAUPIN, Retired Businesswoman. Funeral services for Marie
Maupin, prominent Fairfield businesswoman and lifelong enthusiast of
children, animals, music and gardens, will be held at McCune Garden
Chapel on Tuesday January 19, 10:00 am. in Vacaville, CA. She will be
interrend at the Buzzini Gravesite at the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Maupin is a native of Suisun, CA. and a graduate of Armijo High
School, Class of '33. She started her business career while working for
her father, the late Ellie Buzzini, Sr., at the Old Mint Grill in Suisun
City in 1930. She and her late husband, Arnold Maupin, owned and
operated the Buckhorn in Dixon, 1937-47; The Black Swan Restaurant,
1947-57; The Maupin Flower Shop, 1950-54; and Arnold's Food, 1957-64;
all in Fairfield. Mrs. Maupin was also an accomplished musician. Her
organ performances are legend to many Suisun and Fairfield residents.
When she was 16, she was the Director of Vaudeville at the Solano Theatre
in Fairfield, CA. During her high school years she played piano and
wrote songs for the Lion's Club of Fairfield. She was the first Honorary
Lioness in the United States. Mrs. Maupin is survived by her 3
children; Sharon Tonnesen and David Maupin of Fairfield, and Claudia
Maupin of Vacaville; eleven grandchildren, and eleven great
grandchildren. She was proceded in death by her husband, Arnold, and a
