John Maynard was born on September 17th, 1833.1   John Maynard's father was Calvin Butler and his mother was Malvina French.  His paternal grandparents were Reuben Butler and Lydia Rood. He had two brothers and a sister, named Anson Rood, George Calvin and Julia Ann French.  He was the second youngest of the four children. He had a half-brother and seven half-sisters, named George Calvin, Julia Ann Smith, Martha Catherine, Mary Malvina, Agusta Lavina, Harriet Jane, Ada Laura and Alida Jane.  He died at the age of 62 in 1895.1
