Martha was born on March 28th, 1716.1   Martha's father was Thomas Burgess and her mother was Martha Wilbore Closson.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Burgess and Lydia Gaunt. She had four brothers and a sister, named Joseph, Thomas, Jacob, John and Mary. She had two half-brothers and seven half-sisters, named Edward, Nathaniel, Deborah, Esther, Abigail, Lydia, Rebecca, Martha and Mercy.1
