John was born in 1808.1 John's father was James Brumfield and his mother was Unkown. His paternal grandparents were Humphrey Brumfield and Sarah [Sally] Sartain. He had a brother and four sisters, named Slone, Barbara Elizabeth, Malinda, Mary Polly and Sally. He had three half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Humphrey, James L, William, Emily, Elizabeth, Nancy C, Jane E and Mary C.1 -
