He came to Canada at the request of three of his father's brothers, Charles,Guillaume and François Boivin sometime about 1660. On July first 1664, he received a contract granting him permission to marry 12 year old Etiennette Fafard, from her mother Marie (Sédillot) Fafard Besnard. her father Bernard Fafard died in Nov.1660. Civil marriage ceremony held on July 1,1664. Marriage blessed Nov.4, l664 by Father Simon Lemoine, fearless missionary to the Hurons and Iroquois, in presence of mama Marie Sédilot,stepdad René Besnard,Uncle François Boivin,notables Jean Godefoy, Sieur de Linctot,husband of Marie Leneuf, and Louis Godefoy, Sieur de Normanville.
As a wedding gift Uncle François appointed Pierre his sole heir and Rene Besnard gave dowry of 200 livres(pounds).
Uncle François later bequeathed all his property to the poor of Hôtel-Dieu because Pierre sold a house on a cul-de-sac to Gabriel Lemieux without François permission. Pierre asserted his right and the nuns renounced their claim to his uncle's property upon receipt of 150 livres.
The Boivins lived on the "heights" above Sainte-Anne on land plot 89, one of the most beautiful sites in the whole of Beaupre. In the 1681 census they owned 2 guns,5 head of cattle and had 10 arpents(8.46 acres) under cultivation.
In 1690 Pierre received 40 livres for the roof of the church and a remainder payment of 27 livres 10 sols, and 57 livres for plastering of the church. In 1697 he was paid 70 livres for plastering the length of the church assisted by his son. He appeared in the bailiwick (court) for the last time for drinking on Saint-Jean's Day. The debauchery happened during "the holy service."
Paid 7 livres for funeral and burial expenses for daughter Angélique. Pierre's funeral and burial on January 9, 1709 cost 9 livres.
He and his wife Étienette did not live to see all of their 86 grandkids.
