Ruth was born on August 7th, 1671 in Taunton, Plymouth, MA.1   Ruth's father was Edward Babbitt and her mother was Sarah Tarne. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Edward Erasmus, Damaris, Elkanah, Dorcas, Esther, Deliverance, Sarah and Hannah.1
