Lawrence Turner was born on June 19th, 1864 in Thunderbolt, Chatham Co., GA.1   Lawrence Turner's father was William Marion Black and his mother was Cecilia E. M. Turner.  His paternal grandfather was Henry A. Black; his maternal grandparents were Tobias Turner and Sarah Turner. He had seven sisters named Sarah Virginia, Susan E., Annie M., Sarah E., Mary E., Julia M. and C. E. M..  He was the oldest of the eight children. He had a half-brother named William H..  He died at the age of 83 in 1947.1
