John Bigelow (1616-1703) came from Wrentham, County Suffolk, England to New England in 1630. He was in Watertown, Mass in 1636, a proprietor in 1642, and bought land and house in 1649. He took the oath of fidelity in 1652, was a soldier in the Pequot and King Phillip's Wars. He was a blacksmith by trade.
