Bethia was born about 1768.1   Bethia's father was Jabez Besse and her mother was Margaret Norris.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Besse and Ruth Pray; her maternal grandparents were Oliver Norris and Margery Doggett. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Jabez, Ebenezer, Solomen, Ephriam, Mary, Ruth, Margery and Patience.  She was the third youngest of the nine children.1
