Richard was born about 1809 in Tennessee.1   Richard's father was Ephriam Beasley and his mother was Elizabeth. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Alexander, Jesse, Daniel, Ephriam, William, John, Mary, Rebecca, Rachel and Elizabeth.  He was the oldest of the eleven children.1
