James was born about 1655 in Windsor, Hartford, Conn..1 James' father was Thomas Barber and his mother was Jane Coggins. His paternal grandparents were Robert Barber and Sarah Bull; his maternal grandparents were John Coggins and Mrs. J. Coggins. He had four brothers and two sisters, named John, Thomas, Samuel, Josiah, Sarah and Mary Mercy.1 -
