John Bailhache, 3rd ( ? - ? ) came to the United States in 1810, not intending to remain for more than a year; but because of the strained relations between Britain and the United States at that time, his money was tied up, and he was forced to stay and to find work. He had some training in printing, and so began his newspaper career in the fall of 1811 at Chillicothe, Ohio.
In 1818 John's brother Nicholas Bailhache (1791-1859) who was the immigrant ancestor of the Smith Family migrated to the US, eventually settling in Cambridge, Ohio (though probably not at first).
