Of Mar was born in 1276 in Castle Of Kildru, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.¹ Of Mar's father was Donald Mar and his mother was Princess OfNORTH Wales Helen. His paternal grandparents were William and Elizabeth Comyn; his maternal grandfather was Llewellyn Prince Of North Wales. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Gratney (Gartnet) Earl, Duncan, Marjory (Margaret), Isabell Or Matilda and Of Mar. He was the third youngest of the six children.¹
