1   Miriam's father was Edward Adams and her mother was Lydia Rockwood.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Adams and Edith Squire; her maternal grandparents were Richard Rockwood and Agnes Bicknell. She had eight brothers and six sisters, named Jonathan, Henry, Elisha, Edward, John, Eliashib, James, Edwin, Lydia, Sarah, Mehitable, Bethia, Bethia and Abigail.1
