John De Forrest was born on October 31st, 1889 in Arapahoe County, Colorado.1   John De Forrest's father was Osceola Charles Abbott and his mother was Emma Elizabeth Carnahan.  His paternal grandparents were Edwin Craig Abbott and Mary Ann Wright; his maternal grandparents were Charlie S. Carnahan and Elizabeth Wolfe. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Edwin Stewart, Clare C., Osceola Charles, Harry K., Loula Emma, Alice and Alline.  He was the third youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 68 on January 6th, 1958 in San Diego, California.  He was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, San Diego.1 1
