Alfred Jr Nickell was raised by the Carlew family.
10/7/2003
First of all, when they left Lyon Co in 1911 there were 11 children and one on the way. Their name was spelled Nickell here and are a branch of our Nickells. They were about starving between the rivers and 2 Mormans came through and when they stopped at Alfred's house and saw the condition in which they were living, one of the men told him that his father owned land in Idaho and would give them work and a house to live in, so they packed up everything they could take on the train and went to Idaho. I correspond with a relative in Salt Lake City and have done some research for her at our courthouse. Her mother was the 12th child. She is a certified genealogist.
