Three grandsons of Dr David Powell, of the Powells of Madoc Castle, the collaborator of Hakluyt in the compilations of "Hakluyt's Voyages of Discovery", were among the first Virginia adventurers, and active participants in the founding and perpetuation of the first permanent English Colony in America.
