Sorry for not answering, but I have been out of state in Va. doing research at the Va. State Library at Richmond, Va. We were at the annual Peyton reunion at Aquia, Stafford Co., Va.
Philip Peyton came to Va. Aug. 30, 1665 from Bristoll, Gloucester, England. His children at least the older ones were born in Westmoreland Co., Va. Philip was given 200 acres of land by William Rush who called Philip Peyton his son in law who had intermarryed with his daughter, Mary Rush.
This William Rush had been given land by father in law Francis Grey/Gray and his wife Alice Mooreman(to Maryland first)to William Rush son in law who had married the beloved daughter Anne of Francis Grey.
Early documents on Philip Peyton, son of Thomas of Bisley,Gloucester,England, b. ca. 1585, m. Anne Green 19 July 1606. Philip and Elizabeth Gibbes Peyton were the parents of the Philip Peyton who went first to Northumberland Co., Va., then to Westmoreland Co., and then to Stafford Co., Va. The Englis documents have been reprinted in several books by William Kenneth Rutherford called Genealogical History of Our Ancestors.
We have an update to the Peytons of Va., pub. 1976, due out later this year. A two volume set of 1,000 pages each for about $40.00 for the set. The Peyton Society of Virginia is publishing all the Peytons that we could locate and document whose ancestors went through Virginia and whose ancestors were in Va. prior to 1800.
