ORR, Alexander Dalrymple, (1761 - 1835)
ORR, Alexander Dalrymple, (nephew of William Grayson), a Representative from Kentucky; born in Alexandria, Loudoun County, Va., November 6, 1761; attended the local schools; about 1782 moved to Bourbon County, Ky. (then a part of Virginia), thence to a plantation on the Ohio River below Maysville, Mason County, Ky., and engaged in agricultural pursuits; member of the Virginia house of delegates in 1790; elected to the State senate in 1792 and served until his election to Congress; upon the admission of Kentucky as a State into the Union was elected to the Second Congress; reelected to the Third Congress and reelected as a Republican to the Fourth Congress and served from November 8, 1792, to March 3, 1797; resumed agricultural pursuits in Mason County near Maysville; died in Paris, Bourbon County, Ky., June 21, 1835; interment in Paris Cemetery.

Alexander Dalrymple Orr, who removed to Kentucky and about 1782 married Miss Mary Ball of Dumfries, and was a Member of Congress for two turns from Kentucky, and well known as a gentleman of culture and refinement.

ORR, ALEXANDER D., in congress from Ky., from 1792 to 1797; d. at Paris, Ky., June 21, 1835, a. 7
ORR, Alexander Dalrymple, representative, was born at Alexandria, Va., in 1765. He was a pioneer settler of Kentucky, and at an early period settled in Bourbon, afterward Mason county, on the Ohio river, where
he built the first brick house erected in the county. He represented Bourbon county in the Virginia legislature in 1790, was elected with Cristopher Greenup to represent Kentucky on its admission as a
state, in the 2d, 3d and 4th congresses, 1791-97. He was also elected to the Kentucky senate in 1792. He died in Paris, Ky., June 21, 1835.

Next was the glebe, the residence of the Rev. Robert Buchan. Adjoining this was the residence, (in the immediate vicinity of the church,) called Berry Hill, of Colonel Thomas Ludwell Lee, who possessed another plantation, on the opposite side of Potomac Creek, called Bellevue. The son of the gentleman last named, and bearing the same name, removed to London. The contents are all documents relating to a claim Obadiah Ragsdale has on Valentine Peers in which Ragsdale wins. Valentine Peers and Alfred W. Grayson by virtue of a deed hold a tract of land given by Alex D. Orr. 18,000 acres -- 3,000 of which were sold to General Lee. Valentine Peers sold to Obadiah Ragsdale a piece of land within the survey of George Evans. The land is under doubtful title and A. D. Orr binds himself to pay Peers what Ragsdale demands. Orr binds himself with the penalty of 200 dollars. March 24th 1807. Agreement for Ragsdale.

Bargain for the land is relinquished. As a result a damage payment is expected. Orr binds himself to pay Peers what Ragsdale demands. Orr binds himself with the penalty of 200 dollars. March 24th 1807. Signed by A. D. Orr and witnessed by Stoker Anderson and John Ward.
