  John Stith, of Charles City county, and Mary Randolph, his wife. (Foster's
  Matriculation Entries at Oxford).  His father died before 1724, when, Rev.
  Hugh Jones states, his mother was matron at the college.  He was
  educated at William and Mary College (Meade), and at Queen's College,
  Oxford, where he took B.A. and M.A. (See QUARTERLY, I., p. 136).  He
  married Judith Randolph, of Tuckahoe, in 1739.  (See Ibid., V., p. 244).
  He had issue-- three daughters: 1, Judith, died in 1773 (Virginia
  Gazette); 2, Elizabeth, who married Dr. William Pasteur, of Williamsburg,

  before 1762 (Vol. III., p. 275), and died in 1792 without surviving issue.
  In Pasteur's will legacies are left to his sister, Ann Craig, wife of
  
  Thomas Craig, and to niece Ann Smith [wife of Granville Smith?].  (See
  3 Leigh's Reports, p. 348.)  3, Mary, who died unmarried in 1816.  Her
  will frees her slaves and leaves a watch to Mrs Tucker, widow of Judge
  St. George Tucker, etc.

  Rev. William Stith [RA.7.1] (1707- 19 Sept. 1755 ) attended the grammar school at the College of William and Mary, matriculated Queen’s College, Oxford, 21 May 1724, and received a Kings Bounty for Virginia 12 April 1731. Rev. Stith was president of the College of William and Mary (1752-55) and author of History of Virginia.  He married Judith Randolph in Goochland County 13 July 1738,  and they were the parents of three daughter
  Rev. Smith deeded 470 acres, called “Curetons,” in Martin’s Brandon Parish, his father’s 1692-patent, to Benjamin Harrison 11 September 173
  4› Elizabeth Stith [RA.7.1.1] (-1792) married Dr. William Pasteur.  See their family 
  4› Judith Stith [RA.7.1.2] (- June 1773 ) who never married, witnessed the 1762-will of her uncle John Stith in Charles City County.
  4› Polly Stith [RA.7.1.3] (-1816) never married.
  3› John Stith [RA.7.2] (-1762) married Elizabeth Anderson, a daughter of Rev. Charles Anderson by December 1740.  John secured a patent to 1,078 acres in Brunswick County 16 June 1756 which included 398 acres that had belonged to John Stith, presumably his father.  He was a resident of Charles City County 24 June 1756 when he deeded this tract to “his heir” William Stith. 
  The will of John Stith named sons Anderson and William and four daughters (will dated 30 Jan. 1762,  recorded 7 July 1762). Elizabeth survived her husband. 
  4› Anderson Stith [RA.7.2.1] (-1768), a lawyer of Charles City County, married Joanna Bassett, a daughter of William Bassett and Elizabeth Churchill. They were the parents of three.  He took the oath of militia officer in 1756,  and was dead by 1768 when his widow advertised the sale of his home on the Pamunkey River, King William County. 
  5› Bassett Stith [RA.7.2.1.1] (-c.1817) married Mary Long, a daughter of Col. Nicholas Long of Halifax County, North Carolina, in July 1790.  He “died testate in 1816 or 1817 in Halifax County, North Carolina, leaving children.” 
  5› Maj. John Stith [RA.7.2.1.2] settled in Georgia.
  5› Elizabeth Stith [RA.7.2.1.3] resided in Halifax County, North Carolina, with her brother Bassett, and died unmarried.
  4› Col. William Stith [RA.7.2.2] married Katherine Stith in Brunswick County 4 September (bond) 1756.  Stith paid taxes on two polls and 35 slaves in Brunswick County in 1782.  He and Katherine deeded 62 acres on Shining Creek to Matthew Laffoon 22 November 1784, and with Thomas Stith and Daniel Fisher, they sold 1,212 acres on Shining Creek to Robert Turnbull 28 June 1785.  Stith was later in Richmond County, Georgia.

  5› Frances Stith [RA.7.2.2.4] (- 25 May 1825) married Thomas Haynes (19 Mar. 1749/50 - 14 Oct. 1823) in Brunswick County 22 April (bond) 1782.  They settled in Columbia County, Georgia. Among their sons was Thomas Haynes (3 Dec. 1785 - 3 Jan. 1824) who served in the Georgia House of Representatives (1814, 1826-30, 1832).

  3› Mary Randolph Stith [RA.7.3] married Rev. William Dawson who was Professor of Philosophy at the College of William and Mary.

  5› William Johnson Dawson [RA.7.3.1.1] (-1798) served in the North Carolina house of commons, and was a U.S. congressman (1793-5).

  4› Mary Dawson [RA.7.3.2] (-1787) married Ludwell Grymes (1733-1795) in 1756. The groom was a son of John Grymes and Lucy Ludwell.

  Rev. William Stith, was president of William and Mary College and historian of Va. He wrote his "History of Virginia" in 1740; died at William and Mary College, 1752. He married (Feb. 1744) Judith Randolph, of Tuckahoe.
