Vollie Ira was born on April 15th, 1880 in Lyon, KY, USA.1 Vollie Ira's father was Benjamin Franklin Pinnegar and his mother was Sarah Elizabeth Depriest. His paternal grandparents were William Jackson Pinnegar and Nancy Elizabeth Ingram; his maternal grandparents were Simpson Alexander DePriest and Persilla Leonard Terry. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Dyer Benjamin, Lalus Martin, Deaner Idail, Josephene and Carrie Atlantic. He was the second oldest of the six children.
