Henry's father was Henry Peyton and his mother was Elizabeth Bronaugh. His maternal grandparents were Colonel William Bronaugh and Mary Doniphan. He had two brothers and three sisters, named John Bronaugh, William, Mary, Susan and Elizabeth.
