He had four brothers and nine sisters, named James, Hugh, Samuel, William, Phebe, Martha, Elizabeth Betsy, Jane, Mary Ann, Alsey D, Nancy, Sarah C and Margaret. He was the fifth youngest of the fourteen children.-
