William Lee 
William was born in 1739 in Stratford, Westmoreland, VA, USA.1 William's father was Thomas Lee and his mother was Hannah Harrison Ludwell. His paternal grandparents were Richard Lee and Laetitia Corbin. He had eight brothers and six sisters, named Richard, John, Francis Lightfoot, Arthur, Richard Henry, Philip Ludwell, Lee, James, Lucinda, Eleanor, Lettice Corbin, Alice, Lucy and Hannah Ludwell. He died at the age of 56 on June 27th, 1795 in Greenspring, VA, USA.1 General Notes

William Lee (1756-1795) was an American diplomat during the Revolutionary War. His brothers, all also active within the Continental Congress, were Arthur, Francis, and Richard Lee. William Lee, serving as an agent of the Continental Congress, attempted, but failed, to obtain support from Austria or Prussia. An unofficial U.S.-Dutch treaty that he helped draft became the cause of war between England and the Netherlands.
