Sarah Thorp was born in 1834.1 Sarah Thorp's father was Groves Lea Howard and her mother was Judith Thorpe. Her paternal grandparents were Groves Howard and Catherine Graves. She had five brothers and two sisters, named John Graves, Horace Allen, Marion Terry, Franklin I, Peyton Barnett, Judith Francis and Nancy Allen. She had a half-sister named Catherine.-
