Patsey was born in 1817 in Estill, Kentucky, USA.1 Patsey's father was Henry Forkner and her mother was Frances Howell. Her maternal grandparents were William Howell and Anna Faulkner. She had seven brothers and six sisters, named William H, James, Squire, Jonas, Henry D, Riley, Jesse, Sallie, Nancy, Priscilla, Jane Tamer, Frances and Carrie. She was the third youngest of the fourteen children.-
