Ida was born about 1157 in Of Avesnes, P-De-C., France.¹ Ida's father was Nicolas von Avesnes and her mother was Mathilde De La Roche. Her paternal grandparents were Wautier I von Oisy and Ade (Ida) von Mortagne. She had three brothers and a sister, named Jacques, Fastre, Radulph and Miss. She was the second oldest of the five children.¹
