His paternal grandparents were Henry Stafford and Narcissa Vernon; his maternal grandparents were Edward Dejernatte Kennedy and Sarah Ann Weeks. He had a brother and five sisters, named Wiley Houston, Vonnia I., Minnie Gertrude, Julia Veleria, Narcie Naoma and Mattie E.. He was the third youngest of the seven children. He died at the age of 86 on December 17th, 1974 in Levelland, Hockley Co., TX.1 -
