Chesterfield J. was born on July 1st, 1848.1 Chesterfield J.'s father was Enoch Chapman and his mother was Nancy M. Bryant. His paternal grandparents were Jacob Chapman and Gemina Cantrell; his maternal grandparents were Reuben Bryant and Sallie Whidley. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named Rufus M., Marcus D., Marshall Y., William Jackson "Dr. Bill", John H., Baby Boy, Perry M., Baby Boy, Polly Ann, Rosa A., Hester A. and Memory A.. He was the seventh oldest of the thirteen children.1 -
