Alta Jennie was born on June 22nd, 1908 in Woodsville, Grafton County, New Hampshire. Alta Jennie's father was John Leon Colby and her mother was Maud Abigail Hosford. Her paternal grandparents were Frederick Heauland Colby and Roxana J. Gilfillian; her maternal grandparents are Hosford and Jennie Hastings. She had a brother and two sisters, named Charles H., Madine Hosford and Flavia Jean. She was the second oldest of the four children. She died at the age of 77 on April 16th, 1986 in Woodsville, Grafton County, New Hampshire.-
