Adam was born about 1492 in Hailes, Prestonkirk, Midlothian, Scotland. Adam's father was Patrick Hepburn and his mother was Margaret Gordon. His paternal grandparents were Adam Hepburne and Elyne Home; his maternal grandfather was George Gordon. He had three brothers and a sister, named Patrick, John, William of Rollanstoun and Margaret. He had a half-sister named Jonet or Janet. He died on September 9th, 1513 in Battle of Flodden.-
