John Adams was born on December 2nd, 1846 in Macon County, NC.  John Adams' father was Ephraim D. Henson and his mother was Annie Carpenter.  His paternal grandparents were Elisha Henson and Louisa Smathers; his maternal grandparents were William Carpenter and Martha Margaret McConnell. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Andrew Jackson, David H., Benjamin Franklin, Martin, William H., Margaret Elminy, Lizzie, Sarah Jane, Teletha Christine and Mary M..  He died at the age of 69 on February 11th, 1916 in Smiths Bridge, Macon County, NC.  He was buried in Morrison Cemetary, Macon Co, NC.
