Janet was born about 1475 in Duntreath, Strathblane, Stirling, Scotland. Janet's father was Archibald Edmonstone and her mother was Janet Shaw. Her paternal grandparents were William Edmonstone and Matilda Stewart; her maternal grandparents were James De Shaw and Isabel. She had two sisters named Christian and Elizabeth. She was the second oldest of the three children. She died before April 15th, 1506.-
