Mathilde was born about 1209 in Brandenburg, Prussia.  Mathilde's father was Albert II D'Ascanie and her mother was Matilda of Lower Lusatiania.  Her paternal grandparents were Otto I of Brandenburg and Judith of Poland; her maternal grandparents were Konrad and Elzbieta. She had two brothers named Johann I and Otto III.  She was the oldest of the three children.  She died on June 10th, 1261 in Braunschweig, Brunswick, Germany.


Mathilde's family with Otto

‌Mathilde and Otto were married in a religious ceremony about 1228.  They had a son and two daughters, named Albert I "The Great", Helene and Agnes.
