John was born in 1828 in Barnwell,South Carolina.1   John's father was Nathan Pinckney Jordan Jr. and his mother was Mary Motes.  His paternal grandfather is Nathan Jordan Sr.. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Jim, George, William H., Martha and Mary Ann.  He was the third oldest of the six children. He had a half-brother and five half-sisters, named Thomas, Holly Edith, Rebecca Jane, Amanda, Mary and Louisa.  He died in Van Zandt Co.,TX.  He was buried in Elm Grove Cemetery,Van Zandt Co.,TX.2 2

‌John and E. were married in a religious ceremony about 1850 in Baker Co.,GA.


John's second family with Martha *

They had three sons and a daughter, and also a child of unknown gender, named Richard, William, James Marion, Ida May and Morgan.
