Eleanor was born about 1253 in Ryhall,Rutland,Wales. Eleanor's father was Sir Knight Hugh Despenser and her mother was Countess of Norfolk Aliva Bassett. Her paternal grandparents are Hugh Despenser and Unknown de l'Lisle; her maternal grandfather was Sir Phillip Basset and her maternal grandmother is Hawise Louvaine. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Hugh, Phillip, Anne and Joan. She was the second youngest of the five children. She died on September 30th, 1328 in London,England. She was buried in Cowick Priory,near Exeter,England.1 -
