Gilles De was born about 1185. Gilles De's father was Thierry II De Walcourt and his mother is Beatrix Von Looz. His paternal grandfather was Wery III De Walcourt and his paternal grandmother is Gerberge De Clermont; his maternal grandparents were Ludwig I Von+ Looz and Agnes De+ Metz. He was an only child.
