Fitzroy James Henry was born on September 30th, 1788 in Badminton. Fitzroy James Henry's father was Henry Somerset and his mother was Elizabeth Boscawen. His paternal grandparents were Charles Noel Somerset and Elizabeth Berkeley. He had a brother named Henry Charles. He was the younger of the two children.
