Joseph Von's father was Friedrich Von Sachsen-Altenburg and his mother was Charlotte Von Mecklenburg-Strelitz. His maternal grandparents were Karl II Von Mecklenburg-Strelitz and Friederike Caroline Von Hessen-Darmstadt. He had a brother and two sisters, named Eduard Von, Theresa Von and Luise Von. He died in 1868.-
