John Russell 
John was born on August 18th, 1792 in Hertford Street, Mayfair, London. John's father was John Russell and his mother was Georgiana Elizabeth Byng. His paternal grandparents were Francis Russell and Elizabeth Keppel; his maternal grandfather was George Byng and his maternal grandmother is Lucy Boyle. He had two brothers named Francis and George William. He was the youngest of the three children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Charles James and Louisa Jane. He died at the age of 85 on May 28th, 1878 in Richmond Park, Surrey.General Notes
"Lord John Russell was an instinctive reformer. He came to Parliamentary attention for helping to write the 1832 Reform Bill which increased the number of people eligible to vote. He served as Leader of the Commons, and later as Home Secretary and Colonial Secretary under Melbourne. He went on to lead the opposition to Peel's government and came to office himself in 1846."
"Problems which dogged his government included poor trade, high unemployment, and the Irish Potato Famine. As Prime Minister, he liberalized trade and limited women's working hours. He was eventually brought down by a minister he had sacked, Lord Palmerston."
"Russell then served briefly as Foreign Secretary under Lord Derby, and then later under Palmerston. In 1861, he was created Earl Russell. He then formed a second government after Palmerston's death (his advanced age was outweighed by the Queens trust in him). He resigned, with little regret the next year following the failure of a Reform Bill."
